When was the last time you read about a major tourist destination reducing the price for a popular product? Mark your calendars, because in addition to offering a new Memory Maker option, targeted to guests taking shorter vacations, Walt Disney World has reduced the price for the PhotoPass Service’s Memory Maker product by $20. To review, the regular Memory Maker product (with a new standard price of $169, and an advance-purchase price of $149, if purchased at least three days before first use) includes digital downloads of:
- All of your Disney PhotoPass photos, taken by Disney Cast Member photographers (so YOU can be in the pictures too!), including many Character Experience photos and specially posed Magic Shots.
- Photos from selected attraction and dining locations
- Extras like Animated Magic Shots and videos from select attractions
(Note that some features require that you are using MagicBands, including attraction videos).
Once you start using your Memory Maker product, the photos are stored in your My Disney Experience™ account for 45 days from the date each photo was taken. During that 45 day period, you can access the photos within your account and edit them using Disney’s online photo editing features, including cropping, resizing, and adding decorative borders and other digital flourishes. Once you’re done editing, you can download the edited photos (along with unedited originals, provided you remember to save those original versions), along with a license agreement that you can use if you run into any issues with a photo printing service needing proof of ownership of the photos to print them.
In addition to reducing the price on what Walt Disney World is now calling the “30-day” Memory Maker (because you can continue to add photos to your account for 30 days after the first time you download or unlock a photo in your account), a new Memory Maker One Day product is being offered. Memory Maker One Day costs $59 and can only be purchased in the My Disney Experience mobile app. Just link it to your ticket in My Disney Experience and you can begin capturing PhotoPass photos at 6:00 a.m. on that morning, and can continue collecting photos until 5:59 a.m. the next morning. This is a great alternative for guests taking shorter vacations who still want to capture those moments of vacation magic! The “tipping point” is three days of Walt Disney World experiences. Two, One Day Memory Maker purchases is cheaper than the 30-day product, but the 30-day product is cheaper starting with the third day. Remember that, even if you’re only planning to spend two days in theme parks, if you’ll be at a character meal in a Disney Resort hotel on a non-park day, you’ll probably want PhotoPass photos from that too!
