Walt Disney World will open booking for calendar year 2017 starting Tuesday, June 21, 2016. Walt Disney World’s longstanding policy of permitting bookings a maximum of 499 days in advance remains in place, so initially booking will only be available through November 2, 2017. Bookings for the 2017 Christmas Holiday travel season will be available in mid-August. Package reservations can be secured with a $200 per room deposit, with the balance not due until 30 days prior to check-in. Booking well in advance is a great way to take advantage of what amounts to a vacation layaway plan – your rates are locked in and you can make payments along the way just about however you wish (Disney requires a minimum of $20 per payment). We have clients who give us standing instructions to make payments of a specific amount on particular dates between booking and final payment, and others who will just send a periodic Email with instructions to apply a payment, sometimes in different amounts each time (I’m fairly certain at least one of my clients paid for her entire vacation with tips from picking up a few extra shifts at the restaurant where she worked – I just got a weekly Email with instructions to apply a payment that was specified down to the penny, rather than in round dollar amounts).
Though your rate is “locked in” when you book, that’s just a guarantee that the rate won’t go UP for you. Your Mouse Master travel professional will continually monitor for discounts that might apply to your booking. When a discount is released and it can be applied to your reservation, you just get an Email from your agent telling you how much you saved. We love sending those Emails – I got to send one today to a client who thought she had missed out on this summer’s “Awaken Summer Savings” offer, because there was no availability under the offer for her room category at the time the offer came out, and she did not want to change what she had booked. Today, I checked again – and was able to let her know that she’d saved over $300 and could choose one of those cute, limited edition, BB-8 Magic Bands if she wanted to!
And if you put a deposit down on a qualifying 2017 Walt Disney World vacation package booked through Mouse Master Travel by June 30, 2016, we’ll add a theme park ticket day to your package on us. Or book a Disney Cruise Line cruise by June 30, 2016, and receive a $25 Disney Gift Card to help you enjoy your vacation. (Or you could REALLY maximize your benefit, and have your Mouse Master travel professional put together the perfect Land & Sea combination for you, and take advantage of BOTH offers!
