Disney Cruise Line
Cruise vacations on the Disney Cruise Line mean no compromises. Whether you’re traveling with your children, with extended family, or taking an adults-only getaway, Disney Cruise Line offers something for everyone.
The magic starts with the ships themselves. In addition to offering the largest staterooms in it’s class on a category-by-category basis, each of the four ships of the Disney Cruise Line offer a mix of family spaces, kids’ spaces, and adults-only spaces. Nighttime entertainment on the Disney Cruise Line features family-friendly shows in beautiful, state-of-the-art theaters every night; movie theaters, showing first-run and classic Disney movies; a family-lounge with interactive activities; and Disney character experiences throughout the ship. In each ship’s adults-only entertainment district, the over-21 crowd can enjoy 3-5 beautifully-appointed nightclubs and lounges (and the Youth Clubs offer fun for the younger set until midnight most nights). Most cruises (weather permitting) also feature Disney’s signature fireworks at sea.
Onboard dining is one of the areas where the Value of Disney cruising really shines through. Each ship has three distinctly-themed fine dining restaurants, and guests rotate from restaurant-to-restaurant, providing guests with a different culinary experience each evening. But your servers travel with you, enabling them to provide you with a uniquely personal level of service. Servers quickly learn your and your families’ preferences, and are soon able to anticipate your needs. Unlike most other cruise lines, there’s no add-on or surcharge for these fine dining experiences. In addition to the main dining rooms, each ship also includes a classic cruise ship buffet restaurant with open seating, a number of quick-service counters, and room service dining — all included in your cruise fare. For those looking for an adults-only environment, each Disney ship offers at least one exquisite high-end restaurant for which an additional charge does apply (and the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream each offer two).
Disney Cruise Line Youth Clubs are open to children from ages 3 (and potty-trained) through 17 and are an area where Disney Cruise Line really shines. The clubs themselves are staffed by well-trained and attentive crew members in an immersive, well-themed environment. Disney Cruise Line divides the Youth Clubs by age, and was the first cruise line to offer special youth lounges for tweens and teens. The beauty of the excellent (and free) Youth Clubs is that kids LOVE them. As a result, parents get the opportunity to enjoy adults-only activities even when traveling as a family. Each ship also has a nursery for children younger than age three. There is an additional charge for the nursery, and space is limited. Sometimes all of the detail can be confusing unless one works with the terminology daily. Aaron has always spared us the agony of having to go through that frustration. We have worked with him for several years and he pretty much knows what we want and need. He seems to take a special interest in me and my family – that’s very much appreciated.Keith M.
