Today, Walt Disney World opened up a series of Winter Discount offers. They’re initially open only to Chase® Disney Visa Card holders. The offers will open to the general public on Monday, October 3, 2016. As the offers currently exist, there are a a few variations available:
Stay, Play & Dine
These are package discounts, that require booking a package that includes a Walt Disney World Resort hotel stay, theme park tickets, and a dining plan. It’s similar, but not exactly the same, as the Free Dining offers that usually come out in the Fall. As currently configured, this offer requires a minimum 3-night stay and 2-day theme park ticket and is available for vacations starting on select dates between January 1, 2017 and March 7, 2017 (it appears that for vacations that start by March 7, the discount may apply through March 12, 2017). As with Free Dining offers, stays in Value Resorts include a discounted Quick Service Dining Plan, while stays at Moderate, Deluxe, and Deluxe Villa resorts include a discounted Disney Dining Plan.
This is essentially a room-only offer, though it can be booked as a package including tickets and/or a dining plan. The discount applies only to the room rate. It does appear to cover a somewhat broader range of dates. Discounts are available for most dates between December 15, 2016 and April 8, 2017 (with December 24-31, 2016 blacked out).
Availability of these discounts is limited, both on a per-resort and per room-type basis. As always, some Resorts and room types are not eligible for these discount offers, and that is one of the areas where we frequently see variation between what is included in the Visa card holder offers and the public offers. It appears that the exclusions for this offer include: 3-bedroom villas and campsites, “The Little Mermaid” Standard Rooms at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
Important Discount Notes
We will update this post with more specifics on these discounts as the details of the public discount release become available. While the public offer usually tracks the Visa Card holder offer pretty closely, there have been some significant variations, especially in more recent offers.
I have compared the Mouse Master Travel Friends & Family Spring Break 2017 Specials to the Chase Disney Visa Card holder discount that would apply in the same time period. Exact apples-to-apples comparisons were not always possible, because standard room types were frequently unavailable under the new discount offers. But based on the best available rate, and comparing the same package inclusions, the Mouse Master Travel Friends & Family Spring Break 2017 deal will still save you more. If you are looking to travel between March 13 and March 17, 2017 (with the possibility of extending your vacation at our rates, pending availability, for as much as three days earlier and/or later) you should definitely have us run a quote for our Spring Break Exclusive deal. Using the identical hypothetical family, travel dates, and package inclusions referenced on the Mouse Master Travel Friends & Family Spring Break 2017 page, our exclusive offer was over $340 less expensive at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, over $285 less expensive at Disney’s Port Orleans-Riverside Resort, and over $100 cheaper at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, than under the offers available to the general public.
